Update on Ruth- bad turn

Late Saturday evening Ruth was admitted to ER at the Vail Medical Center due to excrutiating upper abdominal pains.CT Scans and x rays revealed a total blockage in the upper intestinal tract. She is receiving no norishment..only ice chips. Due to many factors, surgery to remove the blockage is not an option. We are working on getting her home so she can rest peacefully. She will be under the care of our good friends with our local Hospice group.

We are overwhelmed by the support of our friends, family, community during this difficult time. We know that you feel the need to do something, however at this time my dad and I are asking for your prayers and support. We are trying to limit our time on the phone, on the computer and are trying to spend our last days with Ruth. Please know that I will not be updating this blog unless anything changes. We will post information on the memorial service once it is planned.

We are sad yet, Ruth, you have such an exciting joyful adventure ahead.....what a wonderful thing to know your Abba is awaiting your arrival and the fields of tulips will blow your mind! Please share Isaiah 55:12. We are grateful for your great faith!

  3. As I reflect on your (Bob, Sarah & Ruth) journey through cancer I find myself so awed by your beautiful faith and inspiration. How you have touched the lives of so many. Ruth, your struggle was/is not in vain...you have planted seeds and watered them with your love and faith. You will be blessed for your faithfullness and I, for one, cannot wait to meet with you again some day. I love you and am honored to be your friend and sister in Christ.

  5. I have spent a lot of time recently in the desert looking up at the stars at night thinking of Ruth, Bob, and Sarah and the way that you live out God's promises. One of my favorite verses is where God promised Abraham that He would "make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven" (Gen 26), all this while Sarah, his wife was well beyond child-bearing age. As I look up at those stars, I know that you are indeed one of those stars promised by God. For while there are many who claim to be children of Abraham, YOU truly are "a child of the promise" (Rom 8). I know that you "are ready to be offered and that [your] departure is at hand. [You] have fought a good fight and [you] have finished the course, [you] have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for [you] a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give [you] at that day: and not to [you] only, but unto all them also that love His appearing (2 Tim 4:6-8) At every step of the way you have had "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, [that] keeps your heart and mind through Jesus Christ (Phil 4:7). You epitomize grace and faith. You make everyone around you want to live a more Christ like life - you are always "ready to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ" (1 Pet 3: 15,16). "you are the light of the world...[you have] let your light shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Mat 5:14,16) You make us all want to be better husbands and wives, sons and daughters, and friends and neighbors. We know that we will not do it as well as you have, because you have set the bar so high, but we will all aspire to live a fraction of the life which you have, that we too might hear those most cherished of all words from Jesus Christ, that we know you will hear, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: though hast been faithful...enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Mat 25:21)

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I believe this is where GOD puts us to the ultimate test that we must believe as Christians that he has a much greater need for Ruth at this time and while none of us in this life have any idea what that is, we as believers can all be assured that we will meet again in a much more pleasant and beautiful place. While we have not been in Colorado as much this year as in past years, Ruth, you are a dear friend and we have always thought the world of you, BOb and Sarah. The world is full of givers and takers, you have been a giver and that is something to be proud of.
2 Corinthians 5:8 "Yes, we are fully confident and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord."
God Bless you and Peace be with you all.

  12. Please know that Ruth is in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is one of the most difficut things that a family can go through. I will pray that Ruth will not be in pain. I know that she will be ready to go home to the Lord in peace and not in fear. I will pray and pray for Bob and Sarah, as they deal with this huge loss. Ruth has touched my life and my heart and that of both of my childern. I'm am so thankful that God allowed her to be part of our lives.
